City of Heroes (I am back to it!)

So - first off, I'm still playing WAR; and don't anticipate quitting for a long, LONG time.

However, I needed my sci-fi fix; bad >_< initially my plan had been to go back to Tabula Rasa when I inevitably got this urge; but for obvious reasons; that's not a very good option now. (For those unaware, TR is shutting down in Febuary; a game that had some great potential killed by a poor launch and some stupid as hell upper management decisions. *sigh*)

City of Heroes always draws me back though - there are dozens of reasons for it; but the single most prominent reason is this:

No other MMO gives you such a deep creative investment in who you are in the game.

The ability to define your costume down to all but the smallest of details is beyond fantastic. The options on that level are just... well, enormous; but if you've heard about CoH before, I'm sure you know that. You also likely know just how many (and growing!) power set options are available; giving you absolutely stupid amounts of altaholism.

All these things on their own could drag any semi-creative person around by the nose rather easily - but come next Issue (free expansion) the devs are letting us build our own missions... not from scratch mind; but with a pretty good array of tools, enough that I will probably go nucking futs making missions for a long, long time to come once its out.

Now I can write a story... and let someone else experience it. Not just read it - but actually play it... how badass is that? >.<

So why am I writing about videogames anyway; even one that heavily encourages creativity? Well - here's why: Every time I get back into COH, my muse comes back. Sometimes more than others; but every time, maybe because the game requires a certain degree of creative thought to really get into it, I start doing 'stuff' again.

I've already been punching out some simple sketches - nothing DA worthy (if you've seen my gallery I'm sure you can imagine just HOW simple they must be... I tend not to hold much back; for good or ill); but I have some ideas floating that may actually get put in.

I also still need to color those Yuuyake pictures; coloring is so not my strong suit though >.< (Frustratingly enough, I'm probably better at color usage than I am line drawing; but my heart rarely gets into it. Hopefully though some success will re-invigorate that).

Really this post is just a kind of cross between a status report, and me loving on what is probably my single most enduring MMO >.> the two go hand in hand *shrug*

Now to get my mastermind 50... I'm 49 and its a double xp weekend!

Hey mistharm, Its El Presedente from Warseer, just started doing stuff here and I thought I'd call by a few familiar faces and say hello.

I posted a few of my pics on Warseer many moons ago, and you'd be pleased to hear that I took most of your advice to heart.

So keep up the good work!
